Pros

Worldwide name recognition in the baby and toddler market. Nice life balance. Staff and Senior Management understand and are supportive of work and family balance (Summer Fridays are a plus!) People are really smart, interesting backgrounds from many different industries. Productive (not time draining) brainstorming/team building meetings help everyone contribute and really get creativity flowing. The design team, led by Ellen Diamant (one of the owners) is really great, from top down everyone is open to suggestions, even from the most junior staff. Ellen and Michael Diamant built Skip Hop from scratch, I have only been here 2.5 years, but I wish I had been here from the beginning. They encourage all members of the team to get to know each other (yup, it's Ping Pong Fridays - no joke!), which adds a nice social aspect to the job ( something not every company does these days). Plus they make sure if you work hard, you play hard - we get a really generous vaka package.

Cons

If you're lazy or un-enthusastic you might not like it here, but if you're into developing new baby products, want a cool casual work environment with some pretty smart and diverse group of people you'll like it here. It's a fairly open work environment, so if you are an "I need an office" person, you probably won't gel with the culture. Liking kids and/or having a child, niece/nephew, sister/brother etc... is probably a positive, I have 2 kids and it makes understanding the products and our customers easier.

A lot of turnover... (the proof is on LinkedIn)

Pros

The brand continues to come out with cute and innovative products, a hat tip to the product development team. The other positive is that there's a reasonable work-life balance for most employees.

Cons

A lot of turn over... This is due to a number of factors, but largely the management team. The core team has been more or less "grandfathered in". As as result, organization is sorely lacking from the top down. Micromanagement is a virus that's infected every department and caused a lot of undue stress. NOTE: The management team is writing the positive reviews here. Everyone else is looking for other jobs.

You will be challenged and rewarded

Pros

I have been at the company for over 4 years - it is a fast growing, entrepreneurial company, and the team is passionate about the products they design and market. I was very impressed to see that everything is designed by the company's in-house designers - who are incredibly talented - and the founders have proven themselves committed to this part of the business. In the time I've worked there, the company has shipped over 100 products and become a brand known all over the world. The entire team including the founders work exceptionally hard, and the passion that everyone brings to work every day is very exciting - there's never a dull day at work. It's not a good fit for everyone - there's not a lot of hand-holding, and the people who do well at the company are self-directed and strongly motivated by their own accomplishments. Those who can't keep up or need a lot of direction can quickly be left behind. I expect that those who have made negative comments fall into this group. But for those who can manage themselves are given a lot of freedom and leeway to offer many contributions to the company.

Cons

There is not always clear direction from management, and there could be better structure and more formal processes. Those in need of a structured environment will probably be challenged by the company culture. Feedback loop between management and team could be improved.
