Pros

The Leadership team, their staff and all the employees at the Newbury Park location are awesome! I enjoyed partnering and collaborating with them daily. In fact, I fostered several relationships with many, there and while partnering with employees and management at the other 12 locations that I supported, that continue to this day. I also enjoyed helping to create and support the newly created Employee Engagement team at NBP. Its a unique team that will foster a positive environement and culture. I miss everyone there tremendously, and I only want the best for each of them!

Cons

Two weeks after I returned from an approved leave of absence, my role as the HRC of the Newbury Park location was taken away, handed to someone else, and I was instructed to take on a new role. This new role consisted only of conducting Onboarding ( both onsite and offsite), assisting with Investigations and Offboarding all the regular and Intern/ Co-op exits for 12 US locations & Canada. Since this was a newly created role with the company, the JD was lacking to say the least, it became a daily trial and error position. With this new role also came a different manager, which was a challenge in itself. Not a lot of training offered, minimal support. I definitely felt alone on an island. When I did reach out for assistance, I felt like I was a burden. But, being the optimistic person that I am, I definitely attempted to be successful in this role. After approximately 2 yrs., I did request to be under a new manager, or possibly another role within the HR realm, but was denied. After that request, I felt targeted, and for the next 6 months felt like I was walking on eggshells. The "Final Straw" (last in a series of negative actions or events that makes the situation no longer tolerable), was when I had reached out with a concern that an employee had brought to my attention. The very next week I was laid off. How ironic- I was informed that the company's HRLT had eliminated the very role that they had created for me 2 1/2 years prior, the one I didn't apply for when I first sought employment with Skyworks. The truth is that human resources is there to support our employees. It’s quite literally a resource for humans. How sad that I, an HR professional felt unsupported........
