Pros

The culture used to be a positive, and some areas do seem to have a good work life balance (great work life balance for those on the bench, until you get fired.)

Cons

The company is bleeding money trying to stay afloat- how many town halls and emails about the same topic can we have? They leaned in hard to GenAI with leaders that have no knowledge and are wildly unequipped to handle the space and are feeling the repercussions. If you're on the bench for 12 weeks, you are automatically fired- but the company is not selling enough work in any area. Very poor long term outlook for the company. On a personal note, getting tired of being harassed to fill out "Best Places to Work" surveys when I don't feel Slalom is a good place to be. Trying to wait it out to get severance, but everyone I know is looking for new roles.

Pros

-Brand name (in tech) is strong, which is good for your resume -There are good people there, even in leadership, who are trying to do the right thing -Fairly low pressure and good work-life balance

Cons

All I can say is- I never realized what 'corporate gaslighting' was until I left Slalom and began to realize how unhappy I had been there. -Typical issues in consulting: Pay and comp is low, and leaders are often dishonest about rates/will put you in roles that are a bad fit just to hit their targets -Many of the leaders I worked with were (1) not as knowledgeable in our field as I expected and (2) displayed behavioral characteristics and encouraged unethical practices (such as billing clients for time you did not spend doing work for them). -"Human" branding is all a façade, it was actually creepy to see how manipulative and disingenuous some of their upper leaders were during my time there.

Pros

Decent (starting) pay for consulting firm, they *used to have* tons of perks, but have been snatching them away steadily since COVID

Cons

They’ve continually made the benefits less good but more expensive the 9+ years I worked there, a lot of turnover, bonuses are weak, they don’t give appropriate pay raises, the managers can be pretty toxic
