Pros
You do get to make a difference working directly with students. The hiring process is fast, but it is really too easy to get in there.
Cons
The screening process is alarmingly weak. One of the three interview questions was literally: “If x + 2 = 5, what is x?” This lack of rigor in hiring should raise serious concerns about quality and oversight. I was fired due to a 27-year-old minor misdemeanor marijuana conviction—in a state where marijuana is now legal. This shows a complete disregard for context, fairness, or progress. When I filed for unemployment, the company attempted to claim fraud against me without providing a single detail to support the accusation. Completely baseless and malicious. This company’s model undermines regular teachers by replacing stable, qualified roles with underpaid, temporary contractors—often to the detriment of students and real educators.
