Pros

located in retail giant, can promote yourself, rotates who takes next retail and service sale, hiring process was very simple, if you hit commission for a period of time they will up your %.

Cons

Have to work their schedule, Matrix color and perms only, pricing structure for haircuts is based on length of hair, conditioner is extra so if hair is long it can cost as much as $30 extra to apply a basic regular conditioner! Can only use their brand styling products on customers instead of all of it as sales tool, cannot get retail commission sold (which would be 5%) unless you make commission close to 1K per week, whether or not you work part time or full time. Was told I would not make any money on weekends :( Was told when hired commission or hourly, which ever was greater, asked more than once is there a minimum amount we have to make to get commission? I was told no, until I signed the *many* electronic documents they wanted me to sign

Pros

Lesson in knowing who not to work for!

Cons

You have absolutely no authority as a manager to do anything. They have bottom of the barrel stylists working there. You can't fire them because they can't retain the few good ones that come along. So they hang on to the bad ones. And keep recycling bad employees over and over.

Pros

there are no pros to working here. totally not worth it. huge waste of time.

Cons

Only get paid minimum wage with no chance of raise. They try to tell you that if you work harder to build the business that you can make commission. Well when you live in a smaller town with 15 other salons and a beauty college, there are better and cheaper places to go. it was very very slow 99% of the time. After 4 years of working there and trying everything I could think of (even doing my own daily deals that were not company approved, to try to drum up business), I never ONCE hit commission. also I guess since its in wal-mart customers think they don't need to tip.
