Pros

Autonomous, pay, benefits, co-workers, learning, promotions, travel, the ability to create your own destiny based on your professional qualifications. Diversity is fantastic.

Cons

I cannot think of many cons relating to working at the Smithsonian. However I would say that travel to and from work if you live outside of the DC area is time consuming and can become an issue in inclement weather.
