Great Work, Great Colleagues

Pros

I love my job and I work with great people. We're collaborative and do what it takes to serve patrons. Fair salaries. Supervisors encourage you to learn new skills and collaborate with other units.

Cons

The only con that comes to mind is limited opportunities for advancement. While managers can ( and do) work to get grade increases for staff, it's almost impossible to create new high level positions. Many to most Library Techs have their MLS degree and are doing librarian level work. Unfortunately, if you want the Librarian title, you have to wait until someone retires or leaves the Institution.

Pros

Excellent benefits, Holidays off, academic invigorating talent on the research side

Cons

Terrible leadership at the senior level. Directors are unchecked and unmanaged. Unskilled in building and nurturing teams for future relevance of the Institution.

Pros

It's a federal job with decent benefits. Decent people to work with

Cons

It's not a Monday through Friday job. The days off are primarily during the week. It takes like 6 weeks to get weekends off. It's not all bad
