Pros

After I was laid off from my previous non-software job due to COVID-19, Smoothstack helped me pivot to a software development career and found me my next job. As a job searcher with only two college compsci classes for programming experience, answering Smoothstack's Entry Level Software Developer posting allowed me to get the training I needed to become a full-fledged software developer. After Smoothstack’s training period, they connected me with my current client who I greatly enjoy working for. Smoothstack’s instructors and staff have also been friendly and helpful my entire time here.

Cons

Training schedule can be hectic and unpredictable at times. As this is an entry level job, the pay, benefits, and pto are entry level (the only reason this review isn't 5 stars)

Pros

For me the opportunity to get my foot in the door at a well known company is priceless. I came to smoothstack with a foundation of coding learned online and determination to make it. previously i worked in plumbing sales but needed to make a change in carreer. I'm not going to say it was easy or even moderately difficult because that would be an understatement. the teachers are going to challenge you and force you to think and learn for yourself because that is what is required in the industry. but more than that they will teach you to market yourself. smoothstack will get you interviews with their clients but its up to you and you alone to take interviews with the clients so you need to be able to showcase yourself. thankfully that process is handled excellently by smoothstack staff, so if you do have trouble talking about yourself like i do, staff will be extremely helpful on that front. for me this was the best decision ive made in my entire career. currently in my first contract year with the client.

Cons

the recruitment process is pretty arduous, but i understand its a necessary evil.
