Pros

I've worked at SoFi for about 2 months now and love it. At my previous company, I felt stagnant with little room for growth. SoFi is the total opposite. Every day I feel challenged. More importantly, though, I feel valued. My manager consistently takes time to recognize my accomplishments, and after performing well and showing strong interest in a particular project, I was even given a new role with expanded responsibilities! Hard work is rewarded at SoFi. The company culture is collaborative, positive, and ambitious. That said, each office has its own unique culture that varies based on regional differences and the departments housed there. SoFi has extremely competitive benefits, including an unlimited vacation policy that people are encouraged to use (really. No catch.).

Cons

The company is fast-paced, so it's extra important for employees to communicate what they need and how they're feeling. This is not a negative, but a reminder of how quickly things move at SoFi.

Pros

If you're a starving student, it's a great place to work. Free lunch/dinner, snacks, etc. The CEO is great, but has nothing to do with day to day work.

Cons

There is no communication between departments, so work is constantly replicated. No one knows what the person sitting next to them does (or even their name), so there's no sense of team. It's depressing. The COO is a complete dictator and has one message: agree with me, or A) leave, or B) you're fired. What a way to run company -- might as well be Shawshank.

Growing ridiculously fast

Pros

- The company is growing ridiculously fast in terms of adding new customers and loan volume - Clear leader in the industry - Mike Cagney is a visionary - SO much company potential. More loan products. Banking products. Credit products. - So much career potential with new opportunities - The free member benefits are a unique differentiator. Social experiences. Financial learning. Career coaching. All very nice. - Free full benefits coverage for my entire family and $200/month paid towards my student loan debt are worth over $10k/year to me. - All my coworkers are smart, motivated, fun, and good people

Cons

- Zero office space left in San Francisco - Not your standard tech company in terms of open internal communication. No Friday 1 hour all-hands with full transparency and open questions. Little celebration of achievements. No clear company goals. Certain departments are trying hard to fix this. - Run like a 60 person company versus a 700 person multi-office company - No clear culture
