Pros

-Lots of opportunity to grow and learn. As with any startup, you get to wear many hats. Also, if you're interested in learning about a specific function, the company is awesome about allowing you to learn or make a transition to a different team. -Wonderful perks - free gourmet lunch, fully stocked kitchen, unlimited PTO, and student loan reimbursement of $200 monthly contribution (my personal fave). -Smart, collaborative, and diverse team, ranging in different industries from tech to finance -Fulfilling work where you can really make an impact (seriously! -- inspiring to hear all of our member stories)

Cons

As company headcount grows, alignment and communication across teams gets to be a bit of a challenge. Expectations can be high and priorities can shift - being adaptable and persistent is a definite must-have here.

Pros

The mission of the company is clear and growth potential is enormous. The company started with a focus on student loans at institutions with low default rates. The mission grew to full service bank that blends professional connections with lending.

Cons

The company has the image of a startup but also has the foundation of a major financial institution. For someone that truly is mission driven, the culture of big finance may be a turn-off. However, it serves as a balance of profit driven business practices and creative startup culture.

Challenging, rewarding job

Pros

Great opportunity to learn and grow. Company is not afraid to always use the best and latest tools and processes, not afraid to pivot/change/self-reflect. Our customers seem to really like us and our products. Excellent work environment and free lunches. I had spent years looking for work that felt like it actually accomplishes something meaningful; this job is exactly that. Intelligent and supportive group of co-workers. Good compensation and bonuses -- hard work and good results are rewarded.

Cons

As a company that really gets things done, the moments of peak intensity can be stressful.
