Pros

Pretty amazing benefits. Coworkers were awesome people.

Cons

They grew too fast and hired a lot of self-interested upper-management who don't know what they're doing. They all want to prove something so each time a new person comes in, it's a full shift to "what we did at ". Most people above a direct manager are trying to climb the ladder (VP, director, etc) and will do so at the expense of others. Quite a few direct managers are doing the same. They have great benefits, but they believe with these golden handcuffs they can treat you poorly and you'll stay. There is a general air of negativity (some teams are fine) but there is a lot of complaining about how people are treated/managed and those fall on deaf ears. If you're looking for career growth this is not the place. They hire friends, promote unqualified people, and reward the best suck-ups and "yes" people. The benefits are not worth the drain on your happiness.

Pros

As many others have said compensation is fair, plus $120 per paycheck is a nice little bonus. The office location is convenient and food trucks come every day so there's a variety of food options within walking distance.

Cons

Where to even begin. SoFi does not care about its employees. They talk a lot about how their better than other financial companies, but it's just talk. Their policies are inhumane when it comes to scheduling, time off, and being sick. Three sick days a year is not enough for human beings. And heaven forbid you get sick during training (which is months long) as they will punish you every step of the way. The majority of managers will say one thing and do another or just blatantly not care what is happening. The last thing taken into consideration for any decision is "how does this impact our employees as people" because to them you're not a person, you're a drone who should sit down, shut up, and do your job.

Horrible. Overworked, underpaid, under appreciated.

Pros

honestly can’t think of a single pro, besides my coworkers.

Cons

They keep taking benefits away from us. When I first started they paid 100% of our health insurance, and said that they weren’t going to do a 401k match because they did that. They started making us pay a portion of our healthcare, and still no 401k match. Their slogan is “get your money right” but that doesn’t appear to apply to employees. Every time we try to bring up how badly a cost of living adjustment is needed, we’re silenced - they won’t let us submit the question in any of the company wide meetings. After years of working remote and being told that we won’t ever have to go into the office, they suddenly changed their minds and are now expecting that we will start working in the office two times a week, despite the fact that they don’t even have enough seating for everybody. They keep dissolving specialized departments and forcing additional job roles on to employees.

SoFi Response

Hello, Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. We are sad to hear that your SoFi experience is not meeting your expectations. We truly believe our employees are the best in the world and have built our culture, programs, benefits, and perks around how we can best support and take care of them. We do still offer a medical, dental and vision plan that is 100% paid for by SoFi for employees and their eligible dependents. That said, we hear you on the 401K match and please know it is top of mind for our Benefits team as we continue to evaluate our offerings to ensure we are meeting our employees' needs. In terms of our Return to Office plan, we believe that in-person connection enables stronger teamwork, collaboration and accountability. Our intention has been to design a thoughtful and flexible return-to-office approach that meets employees where they are. Facilities and IT are working diligently to retrofit our offices with additional desk and conference room equipment to accommodate this change in attendance and ensure that our in-office experience is as smooth and seamless as possible. We value your hard work and dedication for the last 6+ years. Please reach out to your PBP or email us at glassdoor@sofi.org to discuss your concerns in more detail. We are committed to creating a positive work environment and are open to suggestions on how we can improve. Take Care.
