Lots of Layoffs

Pros

None. They entice you in with a high salary and seemly good bonuses/stocks/benefits.

Cons

Company brings you in with promise of good pay, stock options and bonuses then lays you off before you can obtain those. Lay offs were not done based on performance but based off of title/income range. 98% of my team was laid off and each of us were there under a year so we didn't get any stock options or bonuses.

Pros

- Compensation was decent. Although by the hours I was effectively working 2.5 jobs and I should have been paid more. - Exposure to many fintech clients

Cons

- WLB is abysmal. I worked a 70 hour week over Christmas. I worked 7am-10pm for weeks on end. Due to other deadlines, you have to ship the fastest, junkiest solution you can then end up supporting it forever. - You don't build any actual skills or develop any valuable code, you just become well versed in their specific products and upsell clients - Infrastructure is unreliable but deadlines are strict - it's massively frustrating to have some new high priority emergency fall into your lap but be powerless to resolve it because something is down - Legitimately everyone is burnt out, and nobody cares - Literally no code collaboration - Forced to use both R and Python (even though they say you can use either) - Nearly everyone has worked here for only a little over a year. Nobody is an expert - No documentation whatsoever

Pros

Do. Not. Work. Here. Do not even apply here. When I interviewed, I specifically referenced Glassdoor reviews and layoffs, and was promised that things had changed, and that I shouldn't be worried about negative reviews (or further layoffs). Alas, I was wrong, my life's been upended, and now I will add my 1-star rating on top of everyone else's. I had multiple offers to choose from and was misled to believe that Socure was a safe bet. Pros: Benefits and pay were competitive, fully remote work, and they have an innovative product that could have lots of applications. Working-level colleagues were wonderful.

Cons

(1) Why hire someone to let them go weeks later? (2) The distinct lack of company culture was astounding: how can you build an organization around a product that alleges to promote diversity and have no avenues for seeing your employees as actual people with actual interests? No DEI initiatives or recognition, no social slack channels, no place to organically connect with colleagues (as a 100% remote company). Furthermore, the absence of company dedication to a diverse workforce is shocking given how often they preach about helping underrepresented groups get approved for financial services/ID verification. It would be interesting to see what groups were most impacted by these layoffs. (3) Even within a short amount of time, I was able to deduce that executive leadership was full of politicking and drama. People did not support or approve of leadership, basically validating everything that was discussed in prior Glassdoor reviews. (4) Poor severance packages.
