Negatives outweigh some really good positives
Pros
Softchoice hires some really great people. I can see staying in touch with many of my co-workers after I or they leave. My compensation package was competitive. Benefits coverage is good -- 100% dental, 100% pharma (except for dispensing fee) Monthly company-wide video conference updates on sales performance, industry news, etc
Cons
Lots of bragging about mission and values. When the "rubber hits the road" values appear to be only words on paper. For example, they've terminated people who've been on disability or on maternity/parental leave. That's taking care of each other? Doing the right thing? Very low pay for entry level positions -- Inside Sales, Customer Support Reps, Operations Big problem Inside Sales is very high pressure and therefore has high turnover. Nobody seems to care about how this affects customers or at leasst nothing seems to be done about it that I can see. The company plans a lot of changes every year but only seems to complete a few of them the others seem to go into a black hole never to be heard of again. There's a conflict between the "old" Softchoice and the "new" Softchoice. The culture is changing because the company has been publicly traded for about 10 years and shareholders want increased share price. Promotions are politically driven but this similar to many other companies. Too many VPs and Directors for a company with 1000 employees. Seriously check their website. I'm doubtful of current management's competence in building a services organization. None of them has ever done that anywhere else. Senior "Leaders" are managers NOT leaders -- NOT ONE of them. They're nice people and competent but I see nothing and nobody to follow.
