      Not employed by SOI, they were a subcontractor to the company I worked for. SOI was the previous primary contractor.

      Management hires family and forces you as a manager to a hire minority that is less qualified, so that the company can meet its quota of hiring minorities.

      Shift work is ok. The job is relatively easy

      Cons

      No yearly raises, lousy vacation policy, 1 year before any vacation accrued, Not very good benefits, contract work only.

      DLA Albany is a government contract, which means pay rates are determined by the Government, as well as rate increases and timing for these increases. While employees receive two weeks vacation on their first year anniversary, they begin accruing sick time immediately, up to 56 hours annually. Additionally, employees receive health and welfare dollars to be applied to the cost of their benefits and retirement fund. Many companies do not provide additional dollars to be applied to the cost of benefits and retirement.
