Pros

The Emerging Leaders Program is a great way to start your career with plenty of growth opportunity. Management is extremely focused on keeping good talent around and is willing to work with individuals career paths. I believe the actual program is supposed to last two years but many people are promoted in less time. There are also lots of extra training and career development opportunities as well within the company.

Cons

The vacation schedule is not great but it is pretty standard for the industry. Starting salary is fair considering promotions do happen relatively quickly but there are certainly times in the program where you can be asked to fill a position that would pay more but your salary remains the same. This is a fair trade considering that the company's goal is to promote you out of the program into a management role.

Thanks for your review! We are pleased you have had a positive Emerging Leader experience. You are correct in that each Sonoco division has a uniqueness about them, but each one has a program that is designed and guided by the same core competencies; Technical Skills, Leadership Training, Business Insights and Cultural Integration. Skills development and advancement opportunities are a large piece of our core culture. We hope to have you with Sonoco for many more years!
