Pros
Flex time is great in the departments and jobs that can accommodate it. Salary is good considering the cost of living for the area. Health benefits are ok.
Cons
Training is available to some, but don't expect Sonoco to help you achieve it. You will need to be pushy about it. Currently the company is on cost controls so they can have cash for acquisitions and dividends so training and ergonomic changes/accommodations are not available. Vacation time given to employees is not as generous as current market conditions. Bonus does exist but not for band 6 and below. These same or similar positions at other companies would result in participation in a bonus program. 401K program is ok, matching program was reduced several years ago and still has not been reinstated to that level. HR is a mystery. Never sure of who to contact with issues about compensation, health benefits, etc. Not consistent across the company on how sick time is used. It is still a man's company. Women are starting to make some gains, but the southern man's mentality is still hard at work here.
