Great Company to work for

Pros

Tuition reimbursement, strong focus on development, stability, advancement opportunities. This is a great company to work for, I love their focus on continuous improvement. This company also goes to great lengths to keep their employees safe in a manufacturing environment.

Cons

The biggest roadblock I have faced hasn't been from management here, but from hourly employees (I have worked both sides). Many hourlies (and some supervision) have no interest in doing more than the bare minimum (and sometimes less).

Pros

Culture, opportunities for future advancement, and admiration for current employees.

Cons

Most obvious is location, but Sonoco has invested itself in the local community, which I think will pay off in the long-term.

Pros

It's a job with benefits that helps take care of your family.

Cons

Same as others, never ending long days and weeks, not enough time to get recharged or have a family life. Good place to start your carrier, but not finish They call it an engaged work force, forcing you to volunteer participation on focus teams to squeeze in and pile on more work, then holding you accountable for not getting everything done or wanting to know why it takes so long. Watch out for being held accountable for results that are out of your control and not getting credit for any wins. This is probably why they burn through so many supervisors so quickly. Being treated like disposable income to help buffer upper management. Just bring in the next guy to get his feet wet. “Do the right thing” or “take risk” and get your hand slapped contradicts what they say their culture is about.
