Pros

Working for a movie studio, screenings, co-workers, some upper mgmt, upbeat environment.

Cons

Cliques, not transparent about anything, a lot of hierarchies (not a flat organization), egos. Some upper management lacks management training, some are exceptional leaders. Unethical employees destroying reputations to shield themselves from looking bad. Not a lot of feedback or development from management. No time for employees low on the totem pole. People running departments that do not have the same skills as their subordinates. Leadership decisions lack good business economics 101. Feels like a popularity contest. Need to restructure some groups to make them more effective. Jealousy and competition seem to fuel most decisions because people are motivated to stand out instead of making good decisions for the business.

Good From Afar but Far from Good

Pros

Nice culture, strong feeling of family. Lots of creative, talented people who are fun to collaborate with. Most full-time people get to participate in the annual bonus plan, which is unusual.

Cons

SPE is a bit of a rudderless ship these days. The CEO has been here too long and should be replaced but Sony Corp in Japan refuses to cut him loose for some reason. The company has had a few years of poor performance and were we a publicly traded company, the CEO would never have been allowed to continue. Based on what we saw in the aftermath of the hack, he doesn't really want to be here anyway.
