Great place to start a future

Pros

Great place to learn many things, about the job and other aspects of life that helps one grow. For a young man entering the workforce this is a great place to build oneself. Leadership really cares about their team inside and outside the workplace and want you to succeed. This is a business so it must provide a service worth buying and being the leading LTL carrier in the industry, the standards are really high but even so they work with individuals who are really trying. They hold all associates accountable which is a plus because the door is always open to present opportunities where the last person could've done better. This alone lets you feel that you have an input on the operation. The best part of being at SEFL is how involved the Cassel family is. Hands down. In 2024 it's unheard of anymore on how they are leading this company.

Cons

Lack of leadership trust, long hours, 3rd shift positions are mainly what's available, short breaks, little time off. You have to work several years before getting 2 weeks off which is difficult for work/life balance when you're not allowed non-paid time off. Working 3rd shirt working Monday night through Saturday morning. If you excel into leadership you must be (unofficially) willing to sacrifice your time because you lose personal days, meaning no more sick days. No such thing as non-paid time off for leadership so you're expected to be at work for 260 days of the years (minus holidays) and will not get approved for sons baseball game or daughters rehearsal unless you take vacation time. Again, some of higher leadership has very little outlook on associates families, and little tolerance for prioritizing family over work. Many moving parts and delicate process. One bad apple can sour the bunch.

Pros

I have been in leadership for this company approaching 4 years. I enjoy coming to work everyday and facing the challenges of the LTL industry. The company owners really embrace the culture and drive it to be the success.

Cons

Staffing Levels can be challenge somedays. Feel like upper management is close at the mouth on preaching teamwork but far from their actions on a lot of issues.
