Employee Experience Varies By Department

Pros

For Central Arkansas, it’s considered one of the great places to work. But your experience will depend on your department. One employee may have a great experience and for others it may not be due to their management. Senior Leadership needs to realize that all employees do not have great experiences at this company. The careers of some high performers are not advancing and is underpaid. Leadership needs to take off the rose colored glasses and help reduce the turnover. With other companies becoming more flexible with remote opportunities, unlimited time off, and higher pay, the company will continue to lose great employees. As far as the DEI initiative, actions speak louder than words. Currently, there’s a lot of talk but no action. Management is still not diverse.

Cons

Few remote opportunities, small amount of time off for some employees, promotion process varies by department, some managers playing favoritism

Pros

It’s really a great place to work! Electricity runs the world so the work is meaningful. The culture is great and starting to be more modern. People are great and supportive. Benefits are good, and the building is beautiful. There’s a strong focus on giving back to the community. There are fun events for employees and their families. Management listens to employees opinions and strives to improve.

Cons

There’s still somewhat of a traditional mentality. Company wide remote options would have never been considered without COVID. Burnout has increased due to staff shortages and turnover making it hard to take time off due to the heavy workload. Too many meetings that don’t really add value.
