Smaller company rapidly growing

Pros

- fast moving environment, expect alot of change - growing rapidly, averaging 5 acquisitions per year over 4 years - allows creativity

Cons

- generational gap between managment and employees, not alot of younger faces moving up to director+ - struggling to change processes from small company to growing company - change can be behind the market needs, very reactive instead of proactive

Thank you for your feedback, I couldn’t agree with you more, we are a fast-moving organization where change is a constant. This is a big reason why one of our core values is Be Adaptable. It’s a key trait in how we behave - together. I’d like to address some of the constructive feedback you’ve provided, firstly regarding your perception that there is a generation gap in Sovos leadership. Our strategy at Sovos is to promote from within while continuing to foster an equitable and inclusive environment. We recruit for talent over experience, and place a huge emphasis on developing our people so they can grow in their careers at Sovos. That’s why we consistently see a 30% career growth rate each year across all roles. At the same time we also want to ensure we have the right person, with the right mindset, regardless of tenure. I appreciate the callout on some of the struggles a fast-growing organization can encounter when going through a period of rapid growth. As a Program Manager you see this first hand. We are at a particularly critical moment as we pursue our mission to Solve Tax for Good. If we step back, we fall behind, and our robust growth strategy reflects this fact. This is a moment of exceptional opportunity for both us as a company, and for our people as we stretch together towards our full potential. I am open to a 1:1 to hear more about your suggestions, and perhaps also to share with you our strategic approaches and the opportunities these create so there is enhanced clarity for both of us. Don’t hesitate to reach out.

Thanks for the feedback. I am sorry that you did not have a better experience with us. The comment about aggressive managers, specifically, is concerning. This type of attitude is completely out of line with our core values here at Sovos. I will share this feedback with the leadership team so we can look into this further. Sovos’ senior leadership, as well as our HR team operate an open door policy, so I’m sad that you didn’t bring this to our attention so we could have taken action while you were with us. I wish you the best of luck as you move forward. Paul Banker, General Manager
