      Pros

      Over a multi-year period, I was able to advance my skills and get promoted into new roles 4 different times. The final promotion came as I left the company to pursue my next career opportunity, which I had only become prepared for through my growth at Sovos. The "educate and advance from within" philosophy is supported and promoted throughout the culture with individual development, team training, leadership skills programs, and mentoring. Leadership works diligently at providing an environment of clear communication with many efforts to keep the rapidly growing population up to date on changes as they occur. They also have a clear vision of their growth trajectory and make great progress in the areas of compliance and reporting. The HR team is also to be recognized for their efforts to create and support a vibrant and fun culture. Monthly events, employee recognition, fun activities, and a dedication to professional growth have created a place that is great to work.

      Cons

      Sovos is a fast growth company that continues to evolve as it grows. This means it is also a rapidly changing environment. If you're the kind of person who embraces change, rises to the challenge, can apply creativity to solve problems, and love to work with other people of the same mindset... you'll love it. ... if you're looking for a boring, repetitive, stagnant, "safe", place to work where nothing ever changes... keep looking elsewhere.

      This place is a joke

      Pros

      Working for Sovos comes with some perks. You can show up and leave at any time of the day, wearing shorts and flip flops, and do little to no work while still collecting a pay check. Another option is not showing up for work at all and facing no repercussions. It is a low stress environment where deadlines mean nothing and people are not held accountable for their actions. In all honesty, people are rewarded for these qualities.

      Cons

      Low pay, poor departmental structure, ineffective hierarchy, unprofessional, and a complete lack of accountability are just a few. During the interview process, the position I applied for and received was described to me in a completely different manner than what I was actually expected to do once I was hired. I was received little to no effective training. Colleagues frequently did not show up for work, so asking questions was near impossible. When I did ask questions I was essentially ignored and told to figure it out on my own. There is a complete lack of communication between team members because people are unable to engage in any type of professional conversation. One person will tell you that your work looks great and then tell everyone else you are behind the learning curve. The turnover rate is so high that projects and assignments are constantly being handed off so there is no continuity. Therefore important changes and deadlines are frequently missed.

In terms of our environment, we are a modern software company and we strive to provide our employees with as much work / life balance as possible by focusing on results first. This may include flexible office hours, and less strict dress coding attire. Though, we certainly expect professionalism. Most people appreciate the flexibility as it allows them to focus on their work and driving results, but your experience doesn’t seem to match your expectations. We have an exciting opportunity at Sovos, and we want every employee to feel supported and challenged as we work to lead this market. You don’t seem to feel that way. And, we’d encourage you to speak with your manager, another leader or anyone on the HR team. If you have ideas or suggestions you would like to share on ways we can improve, we’d love to hear them.
