Thank you for taking the time to leave this review, it truly made our day. We take pride in the support we provide to employees, all the way down to the details like the in office snacks! Although we are sad to see you left 2 stars, we understand how painful it could have been smelling fish at lunch time. These days our employees are enabled to take advantage of our flexible work model so each employee can create the atmosphere most comfortable for themselves – fish for lunch or not! Hopefully, this is not the reason you have chosen to depart Sovos, but we wish you the best of luck with your career and lunch breaks in the future. - Sovos HR Team

Thank you taking time to leave a review – even difficult feedback is important to hear. I am sorry to hear your time at Sovos was not satisfactory and I want to take a moment to address your comments. We strive to create a positive work environment, and we know our compliance services teams play a direct role in customer satisfactory. In operations, we help ensure our customers meet their reporting obligations. We are at the mercy of the federal, state, and other jurisdictions that control the requirements we are helping our customers meet. We ensure we are connected within the industry to influence these aspects. At the same time, it’s extremely important we focus on things we can control. We’re currently investing into our teams more than ever. Two things I’m particularly excited about is both our newly declared enablement function who has a priority to continuously improve our training and documentation across our global teams, as well as automation to take those more basic, time-consuming tasks off our plate so we can focus on the more rewarding, strategic aspects of customer delivery. Regarding your comment on bad management, we hold those in leadership positions at high standards and enable them to meet these through our required Manager Boot Camp. We encourage an open-door policy with any issues that may arise and our success is dependent on a continuous feedback loop. This is a multi-faceted approach that includes 1:1 meetings with employees and their manager every couple of weeks to stay in touch on projects, plans, and address any concerns; team and departmental meetings and newsletters; written communications through our company intranet, team distribution lists and MS Teams channels; a twice monthly all company open mic with our CEO, and more. We always encourage employees that if for some reason they don’t feel comfortable communicating directly with your manager, our HR team as well as our CEO, Kevin Akeroyd, will help escalate and resolve these problems in a timely manner. I would have loved the opportunity to speak with you directly. Lastly, to address your comment on bad pay, please be assured that we regularly review compensation structures and are committed to being both fair and competitive in our market. Our Total Rewards package does not only include compensation, but also offers several benefits intended to support employees in a variety of ways. In the U.S. specifically this includes our beloved myTime flexible time off program. As we continue to evolve, we will continue monitor our compensation rates as well as our benefits packages to ensure that we are supporting employees within and outside of the workplace. We thank you for taking the time to leave a review and wish you the best of luck as you continue to progress in your career. - Dominic Constandi, Chief Customer Officer

Pros

Sovos is a great place for attorneys that don’t want to be on call 24/7. There is ample opportunity to practice legal research skills and develop subject matter expertise.

Cons

Not much traditional legal work to gain. Little to no legal writing experience . Little room for meaningful advancement. Low pay.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on your experience at Sovos. We're glad to hear that you appreciate the work-life balance and the opportunity to practice legal research skills and develop subject matter expertise. We also value your feedback on areas that may need improvement. Regarding the perception of limited traditional legal work and little legal writing experience, we want to clarify that the Regulatory Analysis & Design department is specifically focused on providing regulatory intelligence to power our suite of products. While it may differ from traditional legal roles, the emphasis is on substantive research and scrutiny of tax laws, contributing to high-quality tax analysis that gets reflected in our product. That is also something that we call out on both our job postings and during our interviews, because it is an important distinction. Career growth in this team has historically been well defined. As we continue to focus on leveling up our platform solution, we are actively working on revisiting this topic to ensure we are organized the right to enable the business today, and our team members have ample opportunities to advance their careers as we continue to achieve our aggressive growth targets. We regularly review compensation structures to ensure that we both fair and competitive in our market, and we will remain committed to this as we evolve. If you have any other specific feedback or ideas for improvement, I would be more than happy to set up time to meet 1:1 to discuss. My door is always open.
