Pros

You are surrounded by driven, intelligent people all with the same goals. The facilities are great - free coffee/frozen yogurt, the meals are good and cheap. SpaceX also offers different speaker series, both with executives within the company and outside of it. In my experience, senior management has always been accessible and willing to hear your ideas/help you out. It's also very inspiring to be led by Gwynne (President) and hear her speak. Also, you are working on rockets and spacecraft that actually go into space. That's a pretty big pro.

Cons

Like a majority of aerospace companies/startups/tech companies, the overall employee makeup is mostly (white) men, which can be daunting at times. However, there are more women/minorities here than you would think.

Pros

- Exciting company to work for - Every position has a lot of authority - There are competitive benefits - Great food - Week off summer vacation each year

Cons

- SOMETIMES long hours - the main office in Los Angeles is a lot more developed than the remote offices (medical, dental, food, aesthetic, etc.)

Fast-moving and meaningful

Pros

This is an incredibly fast-moving environment and no two days are the same. There's always incredibly challenging and fascinating projects to work on, which have the potential to create huge impact for society. You're expected to work hard, but people who come to work at SpaceX want to do that - and managers are really careful about making sure people are working at a sustainable pace. SpaceX has kept this awesome small company culture even as it's grown, so it's super collaborative and open internally, which is pretty different from other aerospace firms.

Cons

There's always a lot of pressure around launches, which have become much more frequent over the last few years. So you do have to schedule stuff in your life around those moments. But that's what you would expect with working in this industry.
