Pros

Dynamics work environment, hands-on experience with flight hardware, and the knowledge of being the front runner in the public's eye of the commercial space industry.

Cons

Unorganized, cut-throat company with the intent of working you to get as much out as possible. Management? There is none and the lack of leadership is due to the fact that everyone is having to do so much that no one has time to work as a team across the company. Every site is on a different schedule, no communication at all. Everyone goes in there every day wondering if it'll be their last (fired-not kidding).

Pros

The goals that this company has can't be matched. I could never walk away from the opportunity to be a part of that without regretting it later. The people that I work with are very talented and motivated. I would not devote myself to something that my peers don't care about. Additionally, most of my close friends are people that I work with. You learn by necessity, not by formal training. Many people complain about this but there is no replacement for experience and motive force to drive improvement. Some people complain about the compensation but I honestly think it is fair. I'm not wealthy but I also don't worry about money. Stock options are undervalued by most people.

Cons

If you are in a role that carries a lot of responsibility (most do), work has to be the highest priority in your life. I knowingly and willingly sacrifice my health, relationships, and other opportunities for the benefit of the company. The company is becoming large and with that; communication becomes difficult, bureaucracy sneaks in here and there, and the environment loses it's scrappy, entrepreneurial feeling.

I love my job!

Pros

As a Test Engineer I am exposed to almost every system of our Falcon9 rocket and Dragon capsule. I am never stuck doing only one task and I am constantly learning new things. I have experience in conducting over 25 structural and functional tests on different components and assemblies. The experience of completing these tests and watching these parts function as designed in space is the most rewarding, satisfying and exciting experience ever. At times, my job also requires design and analysis work to develop test stands for new components/assemblies. Even though this job at times can require long days at work, 12+ hours, I still find ample time to pursue my hobbies and maintain an outside of work social life. I have never had any troubles taking vacations, with durations lasting as long as two weeks. SpaceX is an extremely exciting company to work for. I do not know of any other company that is changing the way the world looks at space access.

Cons

As with any highly technical career there are, at times, extreme amounts of pressure. Even though this might be a CON, I also see it as a PRO because I feel I work well under pressure and it has helped me develop my engineering skills and ability to overcome any challenge.
