Pros

This is my second engineering job, and I know a lot of engineers at other companies. Spacex offers far more responsibility and opportunity for significant input early on in your career. New engineers are designing new parts that will go on rockets launching in less than a year. No one is going to spend months designing a bracket. Major projects generally only last a couple years and then you have the opportunity to work on something new. I can't imagine another company that will develop your engineering skills/knowledge faster while also giving you the opportunity to making a significant contribution to the science/engineering world.

Cons

You get out what you put in which requires taking a lot of initiative and independent working to be successful. In engineering, job descriptions are not always well defined which can lead to poor career development if you aren't actively presenting good ideas. Fortunately there is plenty of freedom to be vocal and let your thoughts be heard.

Pros

Every engineer working at SpaceX has a significant amount of responsibility assigned to them. Because the problems are always hard, working at SpaceX is not easy and is often frustrating. The kind of people that do well at SpaceX are those who both enjoy solving problems and are persistent enough to continue solving problems when they are no longer enjoyable. The management tends to defend and encourage ambition, allowing these type of people to succeed.

Cons

I don't know anybody who could claim that they wanted to work at SpaceX the whole time they were working there. It is rewarding and infuriating in waves and for some people the bad outweighs to good.

Pros

Of the Aerospace companies out there Space X sets itself apart. The work is highly demanding, but greatly rewarding to those who enjoy the engineering field. The culture: Space X has a culture that promotes excellence. Space X values innovation, teamwork, leadership, and open communication. Working at Space X you have the sense that everyone wants to be there, and is there to produce results. The people: The overwhelming majority have sharp technical skills, are competent at what they do, and are well grounded/easy to work with. Young energetic population. The work: Very fast paced. Projects and responsibility are assigned based on an individuals capability vs solely their tenure. This allows for a rapid advancement of role within the company. The organization: Less formal than most other aerospace companies out there. Very compact organization both physically (factory floor is in the same building as the engineering office) and organizationally (~2-3 levels between bottom and CEO). Information/directions flows very quickly on all fronts. Added Bonuses: -Free frozen yogurt stand -Free coffee stand -Subsidized lunches at company restaurant. -Free gym membership -and random others. Its really the little things...

Cons

The work at times can be demanding from a time commitment standpoint. One teething issues related to the recent rapid growth: -parking at an off site garage then shuttled in (adds time to total commute).
