Pros

- Great place to start a career - Work from home flexibility - Development managers can be great motivators

Cons

- Most Senior-Level developers left over the past year or two - Can be a lot of management involved in development lifecycle - Far too much time spent in agile planning/estimation meetings - Recognizing and addressing technical debt is met by much resistance - Product strategy/priorities change every couple of days to couple of weeks - Offshoring created a significant amount of technical debt; and continues to do so - Accounting regularly pays invoices from a few days to a month late - Very restrictive IP Contract - Long support cycles

Pros

Great people, teamwork, very respectful management. Management treats you like a professional and doesn't micromanage. Software engineers are given good equipment to work with. Growing company.

Cons

Software products are not always designed with latest web technologies.

Pros

They have a great work life balance. I am allowed to WFH when I need to. The benefits are second to none. Close to home. A lot of smart people. Promote innovation. They help you to file patents.

Cons

There is some favoritism played by some managers. I feel like there is a lot of tension between the development and Architecture group. They need to work on project scope creep. We will be near the end of the release but not change the release dates.

You're correct, there are a lot of smart people that work for Sparta. We want the best and the brightest on our team! We strive to continuously improve our organization. We have migrated to an agile SDLC and have recently partnered with a leading Agile company that helped us move from writing requirements that dictate to better describing the business challenge to be solved. This has had a positive effect on our product, innovation and developer happiness!
