Pros

good product leader in its space good stock based comp

Cons

Bad management Management is a revolving door at Splunk. Their entire C suite has left/fired in last several months - CIO, CISO, Chief Finance Officer, Chief Marketing Officer, Chief Digital Officer, Chief Product Officer, Chief Humar Resource Officer Lot of VPs, Senior Directors, Directors left recently, were let go or pushed out by the new management with no fault of their own. Lot of Nepotism. All the senior management were pushed out voluntarily or involuntarily so that new senior management can bring their own. I have never seen so much churn at management level in my entire career, especially when the company is doing so well. If you're in management position, keep in mind that this is a revolving door and keep your backup plan ready. I've heard many Directors/Sr Directors were getting bullied until they left. And they laid off others who sticked around ignoring all the bullied behavior. You wouldn't stick around long at this company the way CEO and Senior Management operates.

Pros

sales management wants to succeed so hyper focused on closing deals using every successful tactic that has worked. I've seen multiple cases where the victims were stabbed in the back by HR and the harassers were protected in the last year and a half or so. 'm not sure if it was this bad previously and it was covered up, or if it's just gotten really bad lately. This most of all has damaged my faith in Splunk.

Cons

there is no soul to this company.

Pros

Product still differentiated, in spite of less than stellar development efforts. Customer base embraces the technology and "makes it their own". Still the market leader in the category that they created.

Cons

Culture is now that of a big, spreadsheet-run business, where the vast majority of employees feel no connection beyond their immediate manager. Some of the new executives act as if they invented the company, when in reality they've had little or no impact yet. A start up can go in a couple of directions. They can flounder and never get bigger, while maintaining their culture, or they can grow rapidly, turn over a high percentage of employees, and become large. Splunk has done the latter, which is great for shareholders but maybe not great for employees.
