Pros

There are some brilliant people working here! Pays well, product is fantastic, great office space, free lunch weekly. A great place to work if you don't mind your sensitive or personal business being shared through the grapevine.

Cons

The office politics and drama ruin the experience of working for the company. Expect managers/dept heads to pick their favorites early and ride them with blinders on. More gossip than a middle school cafeteria. Unclear vision as a company leads to broken promises to employees and employees being dragged along with false hope for advancement.

Pros

Pays decently well, good snacks, strong belief in the product

Cons

Splunk middle management can be characterized by sociopaths with superiority complexes. Don't expect to be treated as a person, but rather as a source of technical ability to make your manager look good in front of higher ups. Several of the managers I've had have superiority complexes, even though many of them have not even done the type of work that the employees they manage are doing. People toot their own horns way too much, trying to climb on top of each other instead of trying to get things done. My manager would boast in every chance that he got, even if about something that was tangential/only slightly related to the topic being discussed.

Splunk: I used to love you...

Pros

Splunk used to be great to work for, it was innovative, disruptive and fun. Catered lunches and breakfasts were great. Snacks and stocked kitchens and everything in between. Old brick building was cool. There was opportunity to grow at first but things took a turn really fast. Salaries and compensation were competitive.

Cons

Very political, toxic environment. Only a select few get to grow within the company and are allowed to expand their horizons, others are kept down or even stabbed in the back. Favoritism played a big role in promotions. I wish things had been different.
