Pros

Great product. There was no one in the market that could do what Splunk does. Splunk is still years ahead of the competition. Really smart engineers who understand customer issues. Amazing support and customer on boarding team Amazing marketing team Great energy

Cons

While Splunk is a great product, there is much to be desired in terms of software engineering maturity and accountability. Some of the biggest issues with Splunk that are a pain point for many 1. Many of the senior engineering staff have huge egos and are not really open to listening to new or fresh perspective. 2. Many engineers are afraid of speaking up and just go about doing their work. Compensation+Stock is great so why ruffle feathers 3. There is no way transparent way of doing performance reviews for your team. Reviews are done via email in an excel sheet. Because many are afraid of their managers, most don't say things that need to be said. I hope someone in Splunk HR reads this and implements one of the many solutions in the market for doing 360-reviews. Comeon guys, we can't be using excel and email in the year 2013 :) 4. No well defined engineering process and absolutely chaotic environment. Senior Engineering leads with huge egos for whom you can't really give a anonymous feedback are a big hurdle in doing the right thing. 5. Huge technical debt causing slower and riskier development. Again, people with big egos get in the way. 6. Little motivation to become agile and lean because of customer roll out cycles.

Pros

It's a company that appears to be on the rise that, while no longer the plucky start-up, works hard to make sure it feels like that to the employees. There's plenty of beer, food and foosball tables to maintain a party atmosphere and most people sincerely believe in the product. Great location and great benefits.

Cons

Others have pointed these out: A boys' club approach at the senior management level (literally and figuratively); a LOT of people waiting to cash in their chips and even more people in management positions that have no business (or streetsmarts) being there. There's also a sense that the company will get sold off, which has a bearing on future morale.

Pros

Splunk Brand, Legacy Culture and Team of people to support for growths.

Cons

This was the place in bay area which had terrific Team culture. And great Management (immediate Leaders and ELT) But after the exit of its great CEOs the culture had deteriorated and new ELT and leadership just want to save their positions and visibility leading into politics and mismanagement and little to no growth environment. Its full of favoritism and no ideal place now what it used to be. This is my honest review.
