The greener grass

Pros

Splunk has a great brand and despite a new crop of competitors that claim to offer more than Splunk, there's still incredible demand for what Splunk does best: highlight critical cyber threats, while providing deep insight into IT infrastructure and business application health. Sure there are other ways to solve these things, but to be able to do all three with a single platform captures the attention of budget owners.

Cons

Splunk is trying to script out its sales process, presuming that customers are willing to adhere to a process that can be perceived as self-serving to the vendor. When a customer wants to buy it's important to pay attention to how they want to buy. Forcing them to enter into a prescriptive process can hinder an otherwise healthy opportunity. Selling is not always science as it is art.

We use an organic compound, water when only necessary and grazed by Buttercup herself to keep our grass so green! Wait, you're talking metaphorically. Gothcha! Thanks for the amazing review. Really appreciate it. Feel free to keep in touch via openconveration@splunk.com. - Peter Vogt, Employee Communications
