Pros

Employee insurance is paid at 100%, although I expect that changes in 2023. Hybrid work environment. Most employees are good people. Management, I can't dare call it leadership, is another story.

Cons

No leadership. They just laid off AGAIN yesterday 10.27.22, this is the second time for massive layoffs since 2019. Their Senior management should be fired for making the same mistakes over and over again. The senior teams are in their 30s but act like they run a frat house and not a business. You drink the kool-aid or else. They have no interest in hearing employee ideas or concerns. They believe they know it all. Remember I said this is the 2nd time in less than 3 years that they are doing another mass layoff. You need to be a white male under 35 to get promoted so there is no depth of experience and no breadth of management or business knowledge. The pay in vendor management is dismal. 70K for 25 years of business experience. No 401k match, performance increases based on company success moreso the individual input. Said they paid 5% bonus every year when you start checking last year they paid 1.5% and about the same the previous year. Announced in July 2022 there would be no bonuses or raises given in 2023 because sales expectations were not being met. Maybe those sales expectations needed to lower since for well over a year shoppers have been back in the stores. They don't pay vendors on time and many of these vendors are small business owners that rely on timely payment to make their payroll. They tell their vendor managers to make excuses when payment is not made. The accounting department won't even tell the vendor managers when asked point blank if a vendor is not going to be paid on time. Again lack of integrity in management, has sketchy financial practices and runs the business like a beer-drinking pot-smoking frat house.

Pros

Great peers and team dynamic. Autonomy (with the right manager). Hybrid location model. Exposure to all aspects Ecom and Supply Chain. Multiple Channel selling build knowledge base for future. Competitive advantages in specific areas make role easier.

Cons

Leadership’s inability to learn from mistakes caused mass layoffs twice in three years. Far too reliant on top 3 vendors. Their success sinks or swims the entire operation. ‘High Achievers’ are determined by manager preference and not by numbers. Poor communication on organizational health until it’s too late. No individual bonuses. All tied to company/divisional metrics that. All bonuses give in watered down options that only matter if you last until/after an IPO. Unrealistic growth potential. Not everyone can be a manager but they’ll sure tell you that’s the path you’re on. Too many levels of approval/no open to buy. No less than 5-6 people have to approve a single order. Very silo’d responsibilities. Beat up vendors on costs and terms. And do it again next month. And again next month. Very little Merchant activities these days.

Pros

- cool coworkers - hybrid structure - free healthcare - it worked as a stepping stone

Cons

- you’ll go above and beyond for months to get promoted only to get a 5k increase - you’ll exceed the goals set for you in order to get a raise and they’ll tell you it’s not in the budget - you’ll bring in more money than anyone else on your team but instead of getting promoted, they’ll just dump more accounts on you until you’re drowning in work until you leave and make 50-70% more at a remote job
