Pros

Kind employees except for the minority of toxic individuals, (my experience) kind direct supervisors Great benefits If you choose a good position, you may not become trapped.

Cons

Terrible Higher management Pick a job many people will do if you want to have the ability to transfer. For example, do not work breakfast attendant if you want to move up the ladder. Nobody wants to work in this position and you will become trapped in it working short hours for very little pay, on top of management making excuses as to why you cannot transfer. If you don't "keep your masters" happy, or have a disliking to you, they may find reasons to make your job more difficult or annoying. Some employees may attempt to act like a manager when they have little experience or find you an easy target. Management will not stop it and may even turn it back around on you, regardless of your attempt to explain to them this(ese) individual(s) do the exact same to you and have been since your first day. Promises ability to transfer but may hold you back for bogus reasons or if noone can "fill your position" . Short hours, not very good pay unless you devote many hours that you may not even be able to get. Says one thing such as "feel free to stay later to ensure the area is clean and remains that way for days and weeks ahead", and strips away your hours at their convenience, puts more work on you, and ask why things aren't as clean as they used to be when you cannot devote the time you used to be able to use Skeleton Crews since White Lodging seems to only care about saving money where they can while keeping the public happy.

Decent - Franchise Employee

Pros

Being a Marriott employee in general is a great opportunity. It opens so many doors - career wise - and the Marriott discounts are great for both the employee and their family members/friends. With Marriott on your resume, you know that you received good training and have the skills to set you up for success. The SpringHill brand in general is great, however franchised management companies can either be hit-or-miss. Though you may be offered a decent salary and basic insurance options, on many occasions there is nothing else included.

Cons

Franchised companies do not offer great benefits. It's great being a part of a "growing" management company, but when all you're offered is a salary and basic health insurance, the time put into the job does not always pay off.
