Pros

Floors are quiet so the nurse can concentrate. Charge nurses actually assist with discharges, and if they see you're overwhelmed, they won't push more admits on you. Intercom system is advanced and practical (you don't have to carry around a unit phone, this way it's hands-free!). This is a great hospital, so much better than another famous local one which I will not name here. Great benefits.

Cons

My preceptor was terrible. She would fuss at me in front of everyone! I didn't like Soarian. The hourly pay for an RN is 25 cents less than average. That's all I can think of.

Pros

Technology and equipment is up to date and makes nursing easier. The doctors are phenomenal! The nursing staff is one of the most caring and educated I have ever worked with. Very professional environment.

Cons

Administration has thrown nurses to the wolves. It didn't used to be like this. Our salaries are no longer competitive... They don't staff adequately and are not filling positions as nurses leave to go to higher paying hospitals. Assignments are getting larger and there is no incentive to work extra to ensure adequate staffing. No raise last year. Now they extended raised to every year + 1 quarter. We are not getting quality nurses and the nurses we have are overworked and underpaid. We used to be full but the patients are going elsewhere. Very very sad!!

I.T. No Advancement, No Respect

Pros

The average employee in the I.T. Dept. is very good at their job, friendly, and easy to work with.

Cons

There is no chance of anyone within the I.T dept. to move up, nor get the proper job title for duties performed. If someone who works for the hospital but outside of I.T. tried to move into even with college degree they aren't given the chance, which isn't fair.
