Pros

Pay was fair (more than fair for the work I was asked to do).

Cons

They will ask you to come up with RRE's (Roles Responsibilities and Expectations). Now , you may think you where hired to do the things listed on the job post but actuallllyyy, you will be made to create your role through RRE creation with your manager ( terrible painstaking and awkward). To stand together, Job descriptions don't matter ( but in the real world they do). You will be confused about their way of thinking unless you were a submissive robot without a spine in a former life. They say challenge culture is their bread and butter but, its really a way to weed out non robots. Some really cool co-workers but your manager will prob be a piece of work. Dodge the IT department because some of them are actually out to get you. beware. oh yeah, people blow minor things out of proportion. Dont take a job with them unless you are dying for money. Wait it out . Trust the process in your job hunt but HARD HARD PASS on this non-profit.

Pros

Great work in theory Great pay Well resourced org and many opportunities to travel around the country.

Cons

Conservative Frat boy organization filled with mediocrity. leadership is ineffective and is more concerned about their bonuses than they are about doing any actual good. Diversity is lacking as most people of color occupy admin roles none with budgetary power. Success is based on how well you are at regurgitate prevailing group think Very little organizational vision- every year it is the same orgs that are profiles While they espouse a challenge culture you truly can not challenge leadership. Grossly unethical behavior between leaders and staff but they hide all of it behind an NDA. If you are a woman (unless your husband works there) or a person of color-Run away from this organization

Run away from this place.

Pros

Nice benefits like medical, dental, 401(k), and unlimited PTO. However, depending on your supervisor, you can be coerced into not getting your time off approved. Good people and hidden gems in the organization.

Cons

SO MANY. Stand Together is all talk and no action. They will say one thing and then never do it. For instance, they'll say that they value their employees, yet they only care about what value you can create for them and the organization, not you as an individual. There are office politics and favoritism and everyone in my department is severely underpaid by at least 20-30%. You'll talk with your boss about issues like these and they will dance around the question and will ask you to "prove" your worth. Except... there isn't an accurate scale to measure yourself against. Everything is arbitrary and your worth is based only on someone's opinion if you are providing value or not. There is no clear way to measure anything. So while my department is severely underpaid and get nothing, other departments get bonuses at Christmas, more competitive pay, and are praised by leadership and feel appreciated and that their contributions are valued. There is favoritism and office politics and a backwards and hypocritical culture here. If you don't drink the Kool-aid, you'll not be seen as a good employee. This place doesn't work like the rest of the world, and they are forcing everyone to come back into the office, even during the Pandemic. Also there are no opportunities for growth here. People have been at my position for 5+ years with no chances for advancements. No emphasis on D&I.
