Pros

- Great work culture - Smart engineers - Strong engineering leadership

Cons

- Some fat comp executive hires in the operations and finance are earning too much for doing little and are probably in the company too early.

Pros

Super friendly and supportive people to work with. Exciting product space with a ton of growth potential. A lot of autonomy to solve interesting and impactful problems.

Cons

I prefer working remotely and the flexibility it offers, but I do occasionally miss working side by side with my team.

A refreshing change...

Pros

My experience at Standard has been a refreshing change from some other start-ups I've worked for previously. It's still fast-paced like any start-up, and sometimes requires pivoting or shifting direction mid-stream, but decisions seem be made in a more thoughtful mannner, rather than just based on knee-jerk reactions. Our executive leadership team is very low-ego, and seem to genuinely care about our people. They've made a commitment to grow and spend thoughtfully - rather than chasing hyper-growth like a lot of start-ups at this stage. This makes things feel more secure, and I don't feel like there's a constant threat of layoffs like some other start-ups I've worked at. Compensation and equity feels competitive or even generous, and pay is reviewed annually to ensure it stays that way.

Cons

The company went through a lot of leadership changes a year + ago, and since then it feels like even though things have been moving in the right direction there are still some people carrying around the old wounds from that experience. That's not entirely unexpected though, and will likely just take time to balance. Being fully remote can sometimes make it hard to feel connected to people outside your direct team, so I would just suggest continuing to look for opportunities throughout the year for employees to gather in-person.
