There is a serious disconnect between management and the workers on the floor. There is no team feeling, everyone is out for themselves and you have to constantly watch your back. Because of managements lack of positive engagement everyone thinks they're the boss. The management only contacts you if you do something wrong, making your stomach curl every time you hear your name on the intercom. Worse yet many processes are just plan out redundant. Coming from working for Amazon for three years and now working at this warehouse I got to say, I didn't know I great I had it. Amazons culture is to eliminate variation, and keep the work as straightforward and user friendly as possible. Standard motors is the exact opposite. The worst part is when I've tried to give them suggestions on how to improve their processes and maybe eliminate some variation instead of listening they get offended and defend their backwards ways. Pure definition of cognitive dissonance. And one last thing, they only hire through a staffing company that is in house. So instead of making the 20 dollars and hour that everyone else is making, I'm working just as hard if not harder for 11 bucks an hour, while the staffing company laughs all the way to the bank. You're scrutinized heavily for any small error and they'll use those errors against you to keep you from becoming permanent. Not to mention the SMP employees look down on you for being a "temp". And to even consider being hired as permanent you have to first work for 7+ months, then go on a temp to hire program for another 4-6 months. Kind of insane right? I think it's safe to say this is just a pay check till I find something else
