Pros

The salary is very competitive particularly for a University. It is a prestige place to work and the weather is good.

Cons

Like any high ranking University you are going to come across a fair amount of arrogance. There seems to be a bit of backstabbing and uneeded politicking as well. I also find Stanford University very boring. It is beautiful but it just doesn't have a vibrant social scene like many other campuses.

Pros

Academic and financial resources, world-class faculty, excellent reputation.

Cons

Some facilities are old and ideally should be renovated or rebuilt.

Pros

It's a great environment, with smart students and great opportunities for interdisciplinary research (among others). Also allows for a lot of flexibility with both work and work time - though the final say is at your PI's hands.

Cons

Your experience will widely depend on the departments / colleagues/ advisor (when applicable). Some departments and groups can be quite political.
