Pros

truly collaborative environment wants to be cutting edge in technology willing to train employees strong senior management willing to admit and seek to solve problems grows organically rather than by acquisition low turnover, staff sticks around

Cons

too much tolerance of non-performers, both individuals and offices trusted certainly individuals too much some long time managers (lifers) don't have an outside perspective to compare things too

Pros

numerous offices which in theory provided opprotunities but due to the profit ctr silo effect there was little interaction or sharing of projects decent benefits and retirement some office get to gethers

Cons

the profit ctr mentality did not allow for any sharing of work Often work would be subbed out to competitiors even though there were competent Stan staff in other offices that could do the work Lots of layoffs Low morale Low pay and small bonuses

Avoid Stantec at all Costs

Pros

Stantec's head office is centrally located in Edmonton Alberta with very good bus service and the LRT is easily accessible too.

Cons

Stantec has a reputation for being a great employer but when you join you soon learn that there is an established pecking order - highest in status are the engineers, then other billable occupations, next are the corporate departments that are viewed as overhead and lowest is HR. Lowest of the low is Corporate HR. During the time I was there I was not given any feedback by my manager, nor did I receive any training or development. A request to attend the professional conference to maintain my professional designation was denied. I observed a lot of favourtism and communication was non existent. Morale is at an all time low with results from the annual employee survey virtually ignored and discounted. Why bother doing them? I would not recommend that anyone join Stantec.
