Pros

Starbucks is a friendly and non-hostile place to work for the most part. It is important to be more social than skilled at making coffee. It is more of a people business rather than a coffee business. Although many say that Starbucks needs to go back to basics, I think the food direction and more diverse appeal is a good approach. Be careful, all the free coffee and food will get you fat, though!

Cons

Often there are very early morning hours, and the job requires significant training and experience to achieve proficiency. Also, it is easy to feel the minutiae of a large corporation. Often things intended to streamline or improve something end up backfiring and it take a long time for bad things to be changed.

Pros

They are enviromentally and socially conscious - which is not the norm for a company of that size. They work hard with coffee growing comunities to improve the quality of life from health care to education.

Cons

Where do I start? There's no accountability. People fall into positions based on who they know rather than whether or not they have an understanding of the work.
