Pros

Benefits, and a flexible schedule.

Cons

Once you get into management, say goodbye to work-life balance. Also, management at the district level and up is extremely out of touch with the baristas and supervisors that deal with the every-day occurances that make their job tough. There are very few times when I saw someone praised when it wasn't forced.

Starbucks is still a great place to work

Pros

The company is still "growing up" from a process perspective, so there are great opportunities for a person to make an impact on both small and large scale.

Cons

Collaborative culture sometimes results in gridlock - not always clear who has the right to make a decision. It is easy for an individual to derail the work of a group with an innocent (or not so innocent) comment to the right person.
