Pros

Good for job security. Work and management is relaxed. People are generally friendly and sociable. Very little competitiveness and stress. Especially good if you’re an older worker / proven engineer and you need a low-stakes and low stress environment.

Cons

Company culture is slow to adapt, because of legal implications in insurance they don’t want to try new things, some upper management and older engineers are incompetent and hardheaded, experience is based on tenure and not merit so if you dislike the work (and it can be very dull) there’s zero incentive for promotion. Also expect inflexibility in tech stack options and a lot of Python.
