Pros

it's a good company to get your entry level experience because of the name recognition and good reputation. They have a good training program and different employee networking organizations. All departments are of cource different but dont go into Fund Accounting, its just not rewarding and not very interesting

Cons

All departments are different, some might be better than others but State Street is notorious for very low starting salaries. It is also very hard to get promtions and hard to get into training programs. Some management just says that it is not the most efficient use of your time.

Pros

Well known company in a great city, great for entry level. Most other entry level workers are around the college grad age, so if you are just moving to Boston it is a great place to make new friends.

Cons

Pay is terrible, you start at $32,000 a year based on a 36.5 hour work week, and trying to live in Boston on that salary is hard to do when you must pay $1,000+ per month for an apartment in the city. Rarely do you end up only working 36.5 hours as you are required to work long days and occasional weekends during quarter ends. You must put in a lot of years before being promoted.

Pros

State Street is a large, stable company that is growing despite difficult economic times. The benefits are very good; the hours and work life balance is excellent in my position. The management team that I work for directly is great.

Cons

The salary is quite low. Being a large, tradition corporation, I find myself doing the same things over and over with little strategic input. There are a lot of folks in my area that come in, give their 8 hours, and head home; they do what they have must to get through the day, but there is not an effort to try to improve the normal processes.
