Firstly, the pay is not nearly enough for the city that I lived in. Not enough to survive on and not enough to make you do the insane amount of work that the company requires. When I first got hired, I was bright-eyed and loved everything about the job. I was able to work from home AND style people with amazing clothes? After a couple of months, it became very obvious that this job is not what it advertises itself to be. The inventory of this company is very very bad and is oftentimes low - to the point that many times a month we would have to either email customers and tell them we literally COULD NOT do a Fix for them or send them things that were not appropriate for them at all. Management provided no sort of encouragement to employees besides "other people are sending out Fixes just fine, get creative. You can send out Fixes too." A lot of the time, the inventory would be so scarce that if your "flexible" schedule wasn't at a specific time during the day, it was rare to get any sort of clothing appropriate for your customer actually sent out to them. Which means if you had another job like I did and like most of us did, you would need to adjust that work schedule so that you could style on the times when inventory was the heaviest. God forbid you can't do that, you would be stuck with sending a woman with a low budget a $500 sweater in the middle of the summer and told to "make it work" The metrics ratings are beyond infuriating, especially because the company takes them at face value and doesn't at all look at the reasoning behind why they're low. We had a horrible few months with little to know inventory and when my metrics went down, as everyone else's did, I got scolded and put on additional training because I wasn't doing my job correctly. When I informed management that I was sending these things the customer didn't want BECAUSE we had nothing to send them, they would again say "well others have been fine, so why haven't you?" Customers are incredibly mean and honestly disrespectful but management doesn't care about that at all. If they leave you a bad review, it doesn't matter how hard you worked on that Fix. They also time you on your Fixes and make you stick to a strict time limit for each one. You have an average of 15 minutes to do a Fix, whether there is inventory or not available. So every single week, without fail, I had to ILLEGALLY work off the clock to meet the quotas the company was making me do or else I was at risk of losing my job. Once the company started growing, they made our average time to style shorter (which meant more work) but didn't increase our pay or any benefits. It's insanely difficult to look at a customer's Pinterest board, her 50+ previous Fixes and reviews, requests, and pick limited inventory that she'd actually like in less than 15 minutes. Senior management that makes these calls clearly don't actually style themselves, or else they would know it's nearly impossible to do. I had been with the company for over two years and was never given any sort of promotion because anytime I would slip once on my metrics (whether this was my fault or not), I was told I was not qualified any longer for any raise or any sort of advancement. GOOD LUCK trying to further your career here, there's practically ZERO upward mobility in this company. Let's also discuss how terrible quality the garments are. Very little options less than $50 and most blouses and bottoms are 100% polyester. If your customer refuses to be sent a polyester item, GOOD LUCK curating a Fix for them that they'd actually like. I can't count the amount of times I got a review saying that the shirt they got was ripped or a button was missing or edges were fraying or stains were present. At least once a week. This job sucks. It was one of the most stressful jobs I have ever had because management and the top of the company don't try to make their employees successful. Do not get fooled into thinking this is just some fun job that you can work on the side and make people happy - it will require way more out of you than is necessary and they won't care about your personal life or reasons why your metrics are failing, even if it's the company's fault.
