Strong culture and career growth, but understaffed

Pros

Passionate, motivated team with interesting problems to solve. Definitely feels like we're "one of one". Really strong culture, promotes work life balance and career growth. Leadership is accessible.

Cons

Understaffing - lots of tech debt that needs to be fixed but not enough resources to do it. No guaranteed bonus end of year, which makes total comp hard to compete with similar companies and thus hiring is harder than it could be.

Pros

1. Excellent compensation and benefits 2. Lots of really smart people who are all generally easy to work with 3. A large portion of the employee base is unusually passionate about the product and the space relative to other places I've worked. This contributes to a strong and distinctive culture. 4. Super nice office in downtown San Francisco 5. You will definitely work hard and put in your fair share of hours, but I would dispute other reviews who say there is no work-life balance with the new leadership. Despite the fast pace and ambitious goals I would say that work-life balance is still on the higher-end, although there is some variance by team. The company is hiring at a rapid pace which should help mitigate some localized issues with overwork. 6. Strong hybrid working culture. 7. Company is doing really well.

Cons

1. 30-Day Slack retention policy and a mildly bizarre fascination from some corners of leadership with trying to use email for more than it should be used for in 2025. 2. The company tries really hard to be inclusive about its exercise culture (which is a good thing), but it's impossible to disguise that a disproportionate percentage of people who work at the company are really into running / biking / exercising and that can be intimidating if that's not your thing. If you are into exercise (as I am) then its awesome, but if you're not then I could see why it could be uncomfortable.

Good but frustrating

Pros

- Refreshing to work on a product that I feel is making a positive impact - Subscription based model means making the product better for users is the focus - Good work life balance - Awesome team mates, most people are passionate about the work

Cons

- CEO has it out for remote workers, makes them feel second class and through this is slowly pushing out many of the most senior people - Leadership has stated that promotions will less frequent going forward - Compensation could be better, they took away benefits like lite fridays and a fully remote policy and replaced them with nothing - Twice a year leadership does some radical pivot of the product roadmap, they can't make up their mind - Allocation of eng resources is out of line with priorities, too few people working on some of the most important elements of the product
