Pros

I get to work from home with my 4 kids.

Cons

1. Poor Training: Upon joining ALVA, I was provided with inadequate training. Instead of a structured onboarding process, I was left to fend for myself, resulting in confusion and frustration as I attempted to navigate my responsibilities. 2. Favoritism: It quickly became apparent that favoritism was rampant within the organization. Certain employees were consistently given preferential treatment, leading to feelings of resentment and disillusionment among those who were not part of the favored group. 3. Toxic Work Culture: The work culture at ALVA is toxic, to say the least. There is a palpable sense of negativity and distrust among colleagues, which has created a hostile and unpleasant environment to work in. 4. Unfair Work Demands: The demands placed on employees at ALVA are unfair and unreasonable. Despite limited resources and time constraints, management expects employees to consistently deliver results without providing the necessary support or resources to do so. 5. Cliquish Behavior Among Co-workers: Cliques are prevalent within the organization, making it difficult for new employees to integrate and feel included. This cliquish behavior further exacerbates feelings of isolation and alienation among certain employees. 6. Rude Management: Management at ALVA is consistently rude and disrespectful towards employees. They often display favoritism towards certain individuals and fail to communicate job demands effectively, leading to confusion and frustration among the staff.

Pros

Some very smart and passionate people work at Stride, people who love education and want students to succeed. You will learn a lot from your peers by working here.

Cons

In the years I have spent at Stride, there has been little opportunity to move up for myself and for others. The upper management have done a poor job of planning and focusing on what Stride does best in the past few years, resulting in constant "right-sizing" and layoffs. For those that stay, this creates a constant sense of fear and poor attitudes.

Unlivable Wages

Pros

Remote work (that's about it). I did enjoy my students very much.

Cons

Poor/unlivable teacher wages Extremely high student numbers * Unrealistic timeframe for graded assignments * Heavy workload and teaching schedules * Many non-instructional tasks (such as homeroom duties that would be done by a front office in a traditional brick-and-mortar school). * Enormous push to have a good passing rate-- priority is given to passing rates over student accountability and accurate grading * Counselors are given non-counseling duties so much so that they aren't available for true counseling services for students. * CEO is paid 4 million dollars a year while teachers are paid in the lower 40k range. * Poor, unreliable technology and equipment. Laptops are provided to teachers, but they are old and often crash throughout the school year. * Stingy travel and meal reimbursements that create hardships for already underpaid teachers when required to travel for work to assist in state testing. * Health benefits are unaffordable.
