Pros

When I was at StrongMind, many of the ICs and managers were super cool people.

Cons

If you are thinking of working at StrongMind, you need to be aware of their new partnership with Turning Point USA’s new Academy. I strongly recommend Googling it if you’re not familiar; I can’t link or quote it here. It is, of course, StrongMind’s prerogative to form partnerships with whoever they want. Some people may resonate with the political views of TP, and if you are one of them, you might find that StrongMind is a good fit for you. However, if the ideology and political alignment of Turning Point and now StrongMind are not for you, you will want to look elsewhere. The company will be writing curriculum that aligns with Turning Point’s ideology.

Pros

The team I was on (below middle management) was good. Good people (mostly), good teamwork, great communication within the team.

Cons

Everyone from middle management up seems to think agile development is synonymous with not knowing where you're ever going. Big features we're announced, not discussed. Vaporware was sold and then ordered. Correction for big things like state reporting was always handled as a fire, not as a plan. Implementations were constantly being hijacked by heroic programming, often in languages outside the original implementation, which, when combined with the lack of technical documentation, means the entire stack is housed in tribal knowledge. Upper management feels the need to screw over the best people, and would rather passive aggressively nudge people out with politics than actually address any interpersonal problems.

Pros

The employees who are there with you are great people to work with. It's the only redeeming factor when working here.

Cons

The Creamers are quick to show their appreciation to the Programmers and Media department, but when it comes to the Account Managers and Curriculum, no sign of acknowledgment is given. The pay is below industry standards with very little raises (and that's if you get lucky). No company culture; no appreciation for its employees and no real direction from management. Those working diligently in Curriculum are fired for no reason all the while those working in Programming consistently make very poor software and laugh-worthy product have all stayed in their comfy jobs doing subpar work.
