Pros

I did 2 seasons in Idaho, one as an intern and one as a project leader. My experiences were life-changing and made me fall in love with the mountainous beauty of Idaho. As long as you can keep your head up through (sometimes) tough backpacking trips and trail work, you will have the time of your life. Pay is relatively good ($700/wk) with housing, food, transportation for work, and health insurance covered.

Cons

Working with federal project partners can be difficult, sometimes they arent clear on what they want. Also, conflict can come up within crews.

Pros

Great place to start if you're interested in conservation Lots of outdoor experience and training provided Good opportunity to see the world we live in and interact with various communities.

Cons

Pay is terrible If you're not careful, you'll be dipping your toes forever Wish there was more diversity and inclusion NCS was useless
