Pros

Going in as an outside sales trainee, things looked very promising, but my view turned down-hill quickly.

Cons

This company focuses only on the margins of each sale and not on the growth of the business. Zero priority placed in the growth of operations to support the ever-growing sales staff and constantly setting unobtainable goals for performance metrics in each department to limit salary growht

Pros

Sunsource has a very friendly employee base, and a good corporate culture. People there all get along very well, and management has somewhat frequent employee gatherings (during office hours) that are enjoyable. I almost never took work home with me, and was rarely had to travel. Management was transparent and provided good feedback on employee performance, and did a good job informing employees on issues regarding strategy and HR.

Cons

It is somewhat difficult to advance in certain positions unless you want to relocate. Sunsource is primarily a sales-based organization, so that's where the money is. Nonetheless, you can have a stable well-paying career here in almost any role.

Pros

Good rank and file people to work with. The company's mid-level managers are so inept that it provides many opportunities for comic relief during the day.

Cons

Senior management is oblivious to the bumbling ineffectiveness of their middle management pinheads. Corporate management is hell bent on hiring 'fresh' faces directly out of college, with the intent of molding them in their own image, only to see those fresh faces bolt after 12-24 months. Associates in any department other than sales are seen as inferior and insignificant. All departments except sales are understaffed and overworked, as well as assigned "WIGs" (wildly important goals) that are unattainable and beyond their scope of control anyway. Management sends out annual (anonymous) internal employee surveys that continuously receive negative feedback, then act surprised at the responses and call for 'team meetings' to determine what can be done to improve morale...then ignore the conclusions of those groups. They invest no money in new technology, choosing instead to prop up an extinct operating system and database.
