"Best move I have ever made"

12 years ago I made the best move of my life accepting to come on board at Sunstate Equipment. Coming from an industry where the hours were long and fear and intimidation was the norm for managing people and you were replaceable at any moment. It was quite refreshing to come to a place where people are put first and not the bottom line. It was shown to me rather quickly how if you treat your team with respect and care that everything else will line up to accomplish the goals that are put forth. Core values are not just a plaque on the wall but are mentored and lived out daily. It is not uncommon to see the management team helping in any possible way needed, from washing equipment to turning a wrench to delivering equipment. With hard work and great attitude and self investment the sky is the limit for advancement. There are many managers on board that started their career in the wash rack. I look forward to the next 20 years with Sunstate.

A 2nd Tier Rental Company

I have to add 5 words apparently. Those are the pros.

Cons

Advance people into upper management positions that are incapable of doing the job. This is a rental company that is in the second tier of companies in this type of business. Think H&E, Ahearn, or All Star Rents. Want to be one of the big boys but fall short. If you want to be with the real players in this business, go to United Rentals, Sunbelt, or Herc Rentals. Those are the real players in the game.

Good company but PTO is annoying.

a lot of people who have been working here for 5+ years they definitely believe of promoting within the company when they can. Company is growing its market more east coast

Cons

6 month until you can obtain vacation time/personal time is annoying. They don't use to current IT programs compared to other employers I've worked for ( 2 other employers within 10 years) but it gets the job done.
